truck topper / bed size?

I'd like to get a cap for my truck eventually, to make it a bit more versatile for camping with the wife/kid/dog. While the radio shelters are cool, they're a bit overkill for a DD.

I've got my eye on commercial canopies from A.R.E/Leer/etc. They're built out of metal, and with a little green paint I think they'll fit the looks of the truck pretty well. No side toolboxes should leave plenty of room inside.

The problem is, I'm cheap and they're not. They seem to run in the neighborhood of $3K new. Not gonna happen, so it's Craigslist for me.

The 715 seems to have a weird bed size. Long time listener, first time caller thread says

Inside bed is 63 13/16 outside ofined rails are 69" wide give or take 1/8 weather I keep my tape straight across. 92 5/8 long.no tailgate to measure for any of that info.

and mine measured 69"wide, 94"long (with tailgate? don't remember), and I think my cab is 32" high.

So- has anyone found any more common trucks with a similar bed size? Clisters rarely give dimensions, they just say "fits 1988 full-size Chevy".

Unable to help on your question about a "civilian" truck with the same dimensions... butI like that topper...( the first one pictured )
it does fit the Mil Spec look... and would look great Green.

I noticed His data plates were riveted on to the passenger door... thats a first.
And the 'backup alarm' sticker on the dash...
I've never seen that b4 either.

I would like to have that Michelin Xl 11.00 x 16 in the bed though...

Wish you loved closer I'd give you the camper cap that came with my truck. It's just sitting in my yard. Has the crank out windows and it's insulated. But I went with troop seats and canvas. So I don't need it

Hey..that's my truck
The topper on it is a Reading (yep..that's the brand).
It has a kangaroo as a logo.
As for the moved data plates and the backup alarm sticker.. the county sheriff dept must have done that. It was used as a hazmat truck, used to light up areas at night. They had a generator mounted in the back and cables routed around the truck. Brackets are still there for where they put the lights.
