Thread: Door Corner Seal

  1. #1

    Default Door Corner Seal

Does anyone happen to have one of the right door corner seals? (the rare one) I'm looking at having a rubber manufacturer make a batch of them, however I don't believe mine are good enough to use a "template". Just to clarify this is the chunk of rubber that goes on the corner that seals against the firewall. I know the left side is available through the usual sources but the right is not.

I will have to check all of my doors and see if any of them have useable seals. Hopefully one of them is good enough to be used as a template.

If it is the part I think you are talking about, I messed around with reproducing these a long time ago as a fun, maker-style project. I made a CAD model, then rapid-prototyped a mold and then made a couple parts out of two-part mixable rubber. I lost interest so I never really investigated it further. My original part wasn't very good, so I had to do some guestimating at the original shape to make the CAD model. The final parts had some roughness to them since they were based on a rapid prototype, so I don't think they would be a good original example either. Looks like some of the picture links are busted, so here are some of the photos:

I looked through my parts and couldn't find any of the seals. Guess I'll keep trying to find a good one to copy...

Could someone with CAD reverse the dimensions of the NOS left side rubbers to fit the right side?

Not sure what you need but I have ACAD. Easy to "mirror" a drawing.

Could you "mirror" the driver's side door seal? (its the chunk of rubber that goes between the door jamb and the corner of the door.)
