Hi Dave,
Congrats on the decision...I just finished rebuilding my 230 and it runs like a dream. I do have a few new parts as leftovers from my task. If you ever have a need beyond the panel let me know and I will check for you. Good luck and send pictures....

Looking good Dave. Now that I have other vehicles to do the work I built the 396/NV4500 to do in the M715. I have been thinking 6.2 or 230.
Why did you pull the outter fender off from the inner fender? Was something wrong there or just not enough help to pull the front clip as a unit?
Remember if you didn't build it you can't call it yours.
6.2 powered M715, 5 M1009's, M416, 2 M101's, 2 M105's, 3 M35's, M1007 6.5 turbo Suburban project called Cowdog.

More progress, the engine and trans are out. And started cleaning the new 230 for it's home. Pull the valve cover and was please to find it nice and clean inside. I pulled the spark plugs and added a little bit of 2 stroke oil down the cylinders to help oil the ring and walls. Rolling the motor over by hand with the valve cover off to watch all the valve train and make sure it was functioning good. Moving right along. Next I'll finish getting the motor cleaned up and painted and then ready for install.

Looks really good. I think you made a great decision by taking the entire enclosure out(panels, front). Camshaft and rocker arms look pretty solid from here...

Are you keeping the heater in. A stock M715 would not have had a civilian heater in it, but it is nice to have on cool or cold days. I think if it was my project I'd leave myself that little bit of luxury....![]()
Zone holster maker
I think we have come to the conclusion that except for the cable control instead of vacumm, it is the same heater. you can buy the 24volt blower motor/housing assy on ebay. and VPW has parts also.......
EXCEPT FOR THE DEFROST CABLE!!!!
so you can make it as correct as you want.
