Thread: What tube size for XL tires

Default What tube size for XL tires

I blew a tube then destroyed an XL tire. Have a spare but the tube i had was dry rotted. Went to get it mounted and dealer thought that it probably blew because it was the wrong size. The one that blew was for a low-boy tire 1000-15. He thought it should have an 1100-16, but was unable to locate one with a truck type stem (tr444 or tr150). Thanks in advance.

I was told specifically by a tire/tube place to run low-boy tubes in the 9/10/1100r15 size. 1100r16 are not available. I put plenty of miles, both on and off road on my XLs with the only failure being the tire itself, several times.

Does anyone have a good source for the 1100R16 tubes? I'm looking for a set too.

I just got them from International tube and tire. http://www.innertubes.net/catalog/ I found the site from earlier posts on here, they were about $30- talk to Rusty (as per earlier posts) he knew exactly what I needed. When I ordered them earlier this month, he said he wouldn't have any until February, took my info and called back within an hour saying that he just got some in. I don't know how many he got, so he may or may not have them in stock.

Rusty knows what we need. When he runs out, he has a few others proper sized tubes with different length valve stems. I have gotten both from him and prefer the proper sized valve stems.
Remember if you didn't build it you can't call it yours.

The valve stems on the tubes he sent me end right at the edge of the rim, with the cap on, they stick out very little. Are these the proper sized stems? Or do they sell a tube with shorter stems? Also- the tubes had a nut and washer to hold the stem to the rim, but the threads weren't long enough to penetrate the flap and rim, so I couldn't use them. Should I do something to compensate for not using them?

    Default Tubes

Bought 12 tubes from Rusty @ International Tube & Tire last 08/2007 - got the TR75A bent stem tubes - it took about a month & a half to get them. Running these on my M37's Michelin 1100x16's on stock rims - I believe that item # was 11430 according to my invoice... also used item # 84285D flaps.
