Thread: M715 Factory Engine Color

  1. #1

    Default M715 Factory Engine Color

Can anyone out there tell me what color the M715 engine was when it left the factory? ( I seem to think it was semi gloss black, with gloss black accessories, like the starter, generator, and distributor)
Someone must have an original stock factory engine to reference....
(The engine in my truck was a Letterkenny rebuild, and was entirely olive drab.)
    Thanks,
    Paul, Pa.

You are correct on the semi-gloss black, as came from Kaiser.
    You can reference my restoration.

Ditto, semi-gloss black paint from the Kaiser Jeep factory. I remember them when they were new. (Yes, unfortunately, I am that old)

Thanks. For that matter, I am very honored to own an M715 and tomorrow morning, I plan to take it for a ride again. I love it!

    Thanks for the reply!
How about all the tubing and lines on the engine-- were they painted on and with the block, or were they added later, and were natural metal, and rubber, etc.?

    Also-message for Don Cavey--
I am that old too. I distinctly remember they day- nice bright sunny day- when I sat stopped at a light and, what crept up next to me and stopped--- wow-- an army Gladiator truck, OD and white stars, full canvas, fuel can, pioneer tools, soldiers inside, brand new- wow, neat--
    First time I saw a M715!

I couldn't find any black paint on the steel tubing on my truck.

This black and white image suggests this.
