Thread: 12v starter number

  1. #1

    Default 12v starter number

is there a starter available in 12V for a stock setup? Our Fire Dept truck is going to need a starter, and I would rather get one from Napa or somewhere and rebuild the one thats in it for a spare.

    Thanks

There was a civilian 230 engine thatused a 12 volt starter that will bol in the stock military engine and work fine...they are hard to find though.

Ebay, the Wanted forum here or a scrap yard would be the options off the top of my head.

Default What is the name of the truck?

Any I dead who carries a 12v starter? I got one from bay but it is a 24v, It turns real slow, the truck I have is already converted to 12v system.
Can an electric shop turn my 24 into a 12v?

I ended up bringing the starter to real starter generator shop and they rebuilt it for 100.00 it worked great, and still does now that its my truck.

Starters can be rewound to 12 volts...the only place here is pricey for that...maybe its better where you are.
