    Default strange noise

As I brake and slow down, I am getting a low clunk, clunk type of noise.
Seems to be coming from the rear right wheel.
I pulled the wheel and drum and everything look good and is tight.
It brakes smooth, does not seem like anything is grabbing.
If I brake easy, no noise.
I even thought maybe it was the tailgates chains swinging, but it was not.
I know it a long shot but any ideas?

Shock loose or rubber mount wasted? Something with the springs maybe?

Consistant repeatative noise as if it's part of a rotating assembly?

Or just a random loose clunk?

I'm leaning towards one of the rear brakes. Can you lock up the tires and skid to a stop? Be curious to see if both tires lock, or just one. Can be hard ot tell if the rear brakes are braking even as it obviously won't pull as much as it would were it a front brake.

Rear driveshaft u-joint? A worn, loose u-joint appears tight under drive load, then upon coast or deceleration it can become "clunky".

U joint is certainly a possibility.

One thing I've noticed when you have one brake out of adjustment, you can also hear the springs moving...light hood hinge noise that repeats itself.

I agree. I have also seen worn backing plates cause brake shoe alignment issues and cause them to chatter against either the drum or backing plate.

    Thanks Guys,
I will do the usual, go though all the components.

Check the brakes again for adjustment and give everything the once over.
Will check Ujoint as well, although I already took a look at that, seemed OK.

Did you figure this out? Mine is doing the same thing now that I have put in the used t-case. I greased all the u-joints and replaced the front shoes/cylinders.

Only notice it at slow speed
