Thread: Fuel Pump Bench Test

    Default Fuel Pump Bench Test

Is it possible to bench test a fuel pump? I have a used one, it came from a motor that had been sitting. It is certainly the correct one for a 715. It feels like the input shaft is pretty stiff. In fact, it really only moves a little bit. Should the pump be able to be manually tested? How much force should this take? (by Hand
?) I am probably going to rebuild this, with a kit from then-now.com, as I have found on a search. I was just curious for the time being if there was a good way to find out if anything was seized up inside.

The normal movement of the arm is very small. Easier to put it in the truck and see if it pumps fuel (I used a empty water bottle to measure the flow, as I cranked the truck).
