Thread: Something is missing, under my carb.

Default Something is missing, under my carb.

When I got my 1969 M715, it was missing misc. parts. One of them being the item that goes under the carb. The manifold to carb studs are huge. Obviously, something goes there. What is it? Anyone have a pic? Thanks!

Post a picture of your assembly. I bet someone will quickly identify the problem. That or check the manuals.

Sounds like you're missing the governor, not all were equiped with one.

Common for them to be removed instead of maintained.

Yep, thats whatit sounds like...the governor came with mile long studs...if you change those out to shorter ones, you can bolt the carb on to the new shorter studs and hood the rest of the stuff back up...good to go.

I have a governor off a spare motor...dont know if it is good but it looks ok...make you a deal if you really want it.

Gads! Who needs these trucks to go any slower than they already do?! They're self-governing it seems....

the gov. was calibrated to keep road speed at 60 (flat crusing)a stock truck wont hold up to more than that for very long

In reality, at least after all these years, the governors limit top speed to the 45-50 mph range...at least that is what ownewrs report. Some are even lower...

They arent supposed to work at that speed, they are set to the max speed rating for the truck 60. Mine didnt work at all and when I installed the new one on a flat it kicked in right at 60. They arent adjustable so if they dont work correctly you would have to just replace it. Like with anything if its correctly installed an maintained it will work ok.

    Default Gov Questions

OK.. the governor is missing. If I do not put one in there, am I correct to assume I would need a different style of air cleaner? I have the setup for the one that hangs off the hood. Is it advantageous to put a governor on? I can see the pros and cons, what do you guys who have these trucks think?
