Default Cab removal for the solo artists....

    Don't do what I do.

I found out the funny way....If the ramps are just slightly snow covered, and the dollies are positioned just right....you will lose grip, and the cab will ride across the driveway on the dollies.

Once again, Don't do what I do.

    Default Looks Good!

    Mike,

    Your truck sets good!

What size tires are those, and what axles do you have under it?

    Spring over or under?

And pics of your axle swap?

I am in the middle of mine, that is why I ask.

    Thanks

Reminds me of shipping that cab to Lee quite some time ago. Imagine loading a cab + doors + a ton of extras and the plywood crate into the 715 bed with 2x12 ramp, two come-alongs, a hi-lift jack and no helpers.

The tires are XL's. GM 14bolt/Dana 60 axles spring over. I will post pics of the axle swap after I cut the perches off and re-weld new perches on there. I installed the axles 2 years ago....I took a welding class last fall and learned that everything I welded prior to that was done wrong. I also purchased I nice older Lincoln Mig welder, which will help my situation even more.

The bed has been blasted and primed except for the floor which I will replace once the drivetrain is functional and the front end is assembled. I use my engine hoist for bed removal For now I am planning the dump set-up for the bed.

I've been thinking about one of those Harbor Freight gantry cranes. They are cheap, but the capacity is enough to handle pretty much any cab or bed. It would certainly be very stable and safe.

Be careful. Nothing like a large out of control chunk of steel heading out of your reach!

son-in-law and i took ours off new years weekend.
    weighed like 11 million pounds.
    but really
we were close to a large tree and had a snatch block and my flat bed 69 f-250 has a winch monuted on the bed frame
    so
it was a very large swinging mass that is out of site for a while.
we are going to shorten the truck and bed.

Gearhead, one of those $800 trucks in Ark might make a good bed donor. Just got to get the price down a bit.
