    Default Question about frames

Is the basic frame for M-715 the same a frame used on the civilian jeep trucks? Is it the same size for length width height etc?

No. And it is stronger than j-truck frames.

Look at the frame on a WWII Jeep. Then look at the M715 frame. The MB frame looks like something for a soap box derby car in comparison. The FSJ frames are in the middle. More on the MB side of the middle in my opinion. I have an old Wagoneer and had thoughts of making a M715 hauler family trip vehicle out of it. One look at the frame convinced me it could never be made strong enough to do what I wanted. Maybe once, but not trip after trip.
Remember if you didn't build it you can't call it yours.

    Default Second Question

Thanks for info!! The reason I asked is that I have my eye on a 715 frame and running gear and would like to mount FSJ truck cab and fenders on it. Has anyone tried this and/or will it work?

I've seen it done a couple of times. Can't say I like it, but the open top cabs can be hard to come by... And then there's the bonus of dececnt windshield wipers, door locks, better heat/defrost, among other things.

I think you'll want to cut the wheelwells for tire clearance, though. There's not a lot of room in those civy fenders.

Do you have a frame already that you want to use? I ask because I have Mike's (503m715) parts truck with one that may be getting a one-way ride to the scrap yard this spring. You're probably not too far away. Where in Eastern Washington are you?

I expect you would just use the civ cab an 715 fenders, so you wouldnt need to cut them
