Thread: Vacuum Wipers

    Default Vacuum Wipers

    A few questions questions about the wipers;
    I need new motors. I see them on e-bay but most are for M151's but say "will fit most miliary vehicles". Does anyone know if the M151 motors truly do fit the M715 without modifications? They look the same in the pictures.
    My vacuum pump is disconnected and not working. The wipers are now piped to the intake manifold. Can't find the original piping diagram anywhere. Did the pump connect to anything other then the wipers? Where did the "output" piping to the pump go to? (output meaning the pressure side, not the vacuum side) Does the fuel pump repair kit include the parts for the vacuum portion of the pump?

    Thanks
    Ron

    The older style motors like ours have a universal mounting pattern though the spacing away rom the windshield changes...so if anything, you might need to use some washers/spacers at worst.

    The vacuum pump parts do come with the kit called:

    "DUAL ACTION" (PUMPS FUEL and Boosts Kit: $ 49.50
    Manifold VACUUM for wipers and heater controls)

    from:

    The pump has an input line that starts back at the air cleaner, goes to the ignitor housing, comes off the ignitor housing and runs to a tee fitting where one side goes to the intake side of the head and the other side goes to the input port of the vacuum pump...essentially, the vacuum pump and the vacuum on the motor "breathe" through the ignitor housing to keep to a minimum the buildup of ozone, caused by the arcing of the points in the sealed housing. This buildup deteriorates the cap much more quickly than normal. The other port of the vacuum pump is an output line to the wipers.

    Hope that makes sense...
