How are the stock seat canvas held on??? One seat on mine is tied on the bottom and one is stapled to the wooden base..One back slips on and is held on by strings at the bottom and one slips on and has snaps on the top and bottom. Thoughts and/or pictures???

Tomahawk715, I have several sets of seats. all the bottoms appear to be stock, and in sad shape, but they are all stapled on. As for the backs, they sliped over the hardware and tied at the bottom. I have noticed that all the new replacement covers I have found, they lace up and tie for the bottom, and I couldnt tell if there was any lacing or ties for the backs. I have had a couple of sets for the back that just sat down on the top of the rear, The ties may have pulled off. I hope this helps, Im sure others will chime in and let us know what was stock.

The stock seat bottoms should lace with rope. Seat backs slip over the frame. The seat bottom and backs are the same as the old "box" style drivers seat in the deuces. I suspect that as the ropes rotted and broke, that some were stapled out of ease to do so.

OK -kinda what I thought. I just bought some bottoms and they lace. A guy at works wife is going to take my uppers apart, make patterns and sew some new ones up so I wanted to make sure they were supposed to tie at the bottom. Kinda neat however-whoever made the upper on the one side. It slips over the seat back and has snaps on the top portion in back. The bottom is attached with straps and snaps where the ropes would be. Mine are full of holes compliments of the animals which had taken up residence in it. Nice smell---led to us naming it last week---Rat P*ss. Thanks again Dave--you know with all those pictures you took and the results you ended up with, you should take all those pictures and write a book about your restoration.

Thanks, the pics I have online are only about 1/3 of what I took while doing it. When the old board was up quite a bit of those other pics were availible in my old gallery before the server crashed. I also had them on my site as I was updating with each weeks progress. But now I only have the highlights up. If anyone is interested in seeing them all, let me know and I'll burn you a disc with all of them on it.
