    Default stock trans shifter length

Does anybody know off the top of their head what the length of the gear shifter lever? What I'd like to find out is actual rod length including the bend from top of trans cover to shift knob.
I've looked at the diagrams but they don't mention any length specs.
My new sm465 seems about a foot too long. haha

I have a trans without the knob on it in the shop...

from top cover, next to a mount bolt, straight up to where the end of the knob would be...18-18.5 inches.

If you want the length from the top cover along the stick it will be a guess because there is quite a tower around the shifter to get down to the flat...I can measure that if you want though.

Brute, the 18.5 is what I needed. Thanks for going to the trouble of measuring. Mine is about 23 inches including the bent portion or about 4.5 inches too long. Gonna try and cut it down tonight if I can borrow my buddies tap and die kit to make new threads at the top. Thanks for the info.
