What is this part on my -725? It's a little nub of rubber plugged into the top of the water pump. It looks dry-rotted and I need a replacement. Anyone know what it is, and where I can get another?
It's the item circled in red:

It is where the water hose for the heater would attach to the water pump.
If you are worried about it, a cheap fix is to cut about 4" of heater hose, put a bolt in one end and clamp it down. Then stick your new "cap" on the water pump to replace the "cap" shown in your picture.
I have never seen that particular "cap" on any other vehicle and think you will have a hard time finding one of modern rubber. Let us know if you do.
Remember if you didn't build it you can't call it yours.

Cool - an ingenious American fix! I got plenty of heater hose, and plenty of bolts. Will rig this up this week. Thanks!
Looks like its a plumbing fixture or device. They make them to cap drains etc durring rough in construction. It's a rubber cap with a hose clamp. Check your hardware or DIY type home store.

Try your local auto parts store. I've found them on the racks where you get those odds and ends like door handles, springs etc. The red packs.
I have used spark plugs in a pinch instead of bolts...
