Thread: Padlock Set - Troop Installed Item

Default Padlock Set - Troop Installed Item

From -The Basic Issue Items List
    Padlock Set, W/Clevis and Chain

I know that Don had a picture of them stored, hanging from the Dash E brake Bumper.

But, is it plausible that they might have been mounted like I did it, or did the GIs just cut off the chain?

Don's Truck also has a lock on the filler neck and/or the GI 5 gallon can, on the drivers side.

I dont have the pic handy, but I saw it last week...
And the "Do not fill above this line" stencil and "a line on the filler neck". was also on there, I think his Germany truck.
The chain was on the lock on the gas can / filler neck.

Then pic wasnt close enough to tell where/ what was actually locked.

Nice looking Locks, might need a few more around here : )

When You get a chance, take a pic of Your "steering wheel lock and chain set", Jeepdan... with the canvas cover / carrier You found for it.

I have a few sets that I got from eBay. It took awhile to get them for what I felt was a reasonable price.

The truck in Germany had exactly that setup. I put a piece of black electrical tape over the opening because the cinders that the Germans used on the roads in the winter would jam up the lock.

    My truck in 1970:

Ya done good! I have a few vintage pictures to refer to.

I will be heading to Florida for two weeks, Sept 29 to Oct 14. Sure will be nice to get behind the wheel again!
