    Default Front signal light issues

Can anyone confirm if the front turn signals are supposed to operate as a normal car when the head lights are on? I searched, but could not find this info. I had pulled the signal lights off to replace some of the lens cover bolts, also painted them and installed a missing bulb. Followed the wiring instruction in manual, confirmed metal tags numbers matched. Worked as expected until I turned the head lights on, blinkers went very dim in front, rear were as normal. Spent several hours trying to figure out what was going on. Finally got the signals to work with lights on, but now blackout lights don't come on. Have stock distribution box and original wiring harness. Thanks.

Maybe something with the light switch on the dash?

The front lights should not dim with the headlights on...the blackouts should be working too...

What did you do that got the fronts to stop being dim when the headlights went on?

When you are looking at the blackouts to see if they work, are you just looking at them in daylight with the lenses on or at night or looking with the lenses off? Reason I ask is they are very dim and in daylight impossible to see unless you put your face to the lens and block out any side light that might be getting in...they arent the easiest to see at night from much distance...with the lenses off, you will see the bulb easily anytime...

I just checked and my lights and they operate as stated above. And the Black Out lights are very difficult to see as noted above too.

What I did find was that my BO driving light, which I just cleaned and painted is not working!

    Another project!!!

Seriously, check grounds too. Make sure that the ground inside of the light housings are making good connection...

Check your grounds. The mount bolts are the grounds for the light buckets. Weird things happen when the ground is not good.

I had a set sitting on a valence while I hooked up 1 wire, turned on that light, ran a wire for ground and repeated with all the lights in the bucket before I bolted it in place. Lights other than the only one plugged in would actually glow until I got the ground in place. Very weird.

Thanks for confirming what I though made sense. I tried switching the three wires around until I got them to work with head lights on. Then after mounting everything back I tried the BO lights (am checking them at night), go figures. I will take them off tonight and check grounds inside the lights. Weird the BO and blinkers worked as normal until head lights were tuned on, oh well. Thanks again for advice.

Try pulling all the light bucket plugs off and verify with a volt meter you are getting voltage on the proper wires at the proper times. That will tell you if it is the light bucket or the truck with the problem.

If it is the truck, look at the 3 lever switch first. They do fail and fail in weird ways.
