Altenative to the stock fuel tank

Hey guys, my fuel tank sprung a leak yesterday. Ive found that tanks are hard to come by. Im not particularly worried about keeping my 715 stock because Ive already put a V8 in it. Anyone swapped in a tank from another vehicle? If so how did you fill it and where did it mount. Thanks

I had a stainless steel tank made to replicate the stock tank, more or less. (Traded out some work with a welding and machine shop). I am going to dual fuel (was propane only), and needed to mount it. After looking at clearances underneath (ground clearance, distance to driveshaft after planned output shaft relo), I decided to just bed-mount it.

My bed is pretty much useless already, so what's one more thing fixed in place in it?? I got crossbed and side tool boxes, ASME propane tank, one forklift tank, and now, the gas tank. Still have room for a cooler, though.

Friend of mine here did a store-bought aux gas tank that sits in the bed, too. Maybe 24" on a side.

40Grit has that same setup and when I was out there last it looked like you could run a hard pipe from the stock filler back to the Bronco tank along the top of the frame under the bed. Never actually measured it out, but it looked like you could.

I did a temporary setup with a notch in the bedside behind the LH wheelwell and and stuffed the Bronco filler tube in there. And 10 years later that's still what I'm running! I smeared the fuel cap off once but other than the fact it looks unfinished it works just fine. One of these days I'd like to get some sort of flush mount setup off a utility or flatbed truck.

A suburban tank should mount behind the axle and they are 40 gallon capacity.

I like the suburban tank idea. I have a suburban that I was going to crush, I think Ill pull the tank first for the spare tank on the m725. The plastic tanks from 1980 and newer j-series pick ups should fit fine for the main tank.

I used the saddle tanks from a 75 chevy step side and all the wiring. The tanks fit perfectly in between the cross members. They are only 15 gallons or so apiece but I used both for around 30 gallons. I can get some pictures on here if needed.
