Oil leak help to find oil seal
Post by dougbrsp on Apr 24, 2006, 2:50pm

Hi, I'm from Brazil and in the M715 zone official forum I'm already asked by this, my M715 has a oil leak from the left back wheel but is hard to find here en Brazil the correct seal for fix it.

The oil drips between the item 38 and 39 in fig 14-2 (1 and 5 in fig 2-90), wetting the brake parts too, I need to find in the drawing the correct oil seal that allow this happen and a online shop where can I buy using VISA so I can buy and ship to Brazil.

    Thanks

The seal you need is #27 in the first pic and #2 in the 2nd pic. I dont know of any of the surplus places that export but you can try:

    See if this makes sense:

    Nunca confna borracha velha!

It's much safer to trust the life of your brakes to new rubber rather than NOS rubber.

Can you order from Napa? Here's a link to the very seal you need.

Will they ship to him I wonder? It would be a better to use new than NOS....for certain!

    Dunno. Hopefully.

Looks like the link dosen't work anyhow, even copied and pasted. The Napa website gives you a place to search either the Napa #27601 or a non-Napa #, either way it comes up with the same seal at about 20 bucks.

BETTER MAKE SURE its a wheel seal and not a wheel brake cylinder leaking. the only way to see is to remove the brake drum. i bet its a brake cylinder. check your fluid level in the master cylinder to see if its low.

I have replaced both rear axle seals due to leaks and never had a wheel cylinder leak...well the fire incident but thats different...

    Could be either...

    Thanks all

Brute4c, I'll try to make contact to these dealers, thanks, the important is that now I know the correct item numbers and description, thanks.

luckypabst, thanks, yes it's make sense , I'm tried to see on the NAPA but they only ships to the US .

robertcowan, I have sure that's not an oil break leak, because the oil that drips from the wheel have the SAE 90 caracteristic smell and texture, otherwise when I remove the wheels to fix the leak I'll see the state of the wheel cylinders.

The Kaiser M715 is directly equal to with model of the Gladiator Jeep? I'm asking this, because close to here (in Argentina) have a lot of this Gladiators trucks so I can try to find this there.

There's no modern truck that uses this same axle (dana 70)? Like the F350 or other? If have I can try to find the seal on local dealers too.

    Thanks again.

None of the civilian Gladiator Jeep trucks used this axle.

I dont know of a modern axle that uses the same seal...though there may be one or several...

I would see if anyone can cross that seal number for you:

    NAPA number: 27601

    National Seal Number: 476282

Timken Zero Duplication Seal Number: 416282

By the way Lucky, your link works if you copy/paste it and remove the space in the word truck at the end...

Dougbrsp: What model years are these Gladiator trucks down there? Are they relatively new, or all 30-40 years old like up here?

Are you able to make payments with PayPal? If so, perhaps one of us (with a PayPal account that allows us to receive funds) could buy the part for you and mail it. Just a thought.
