Default Humvee tires in our rims?

Stupid question - Since our rims have a larger OD due to the split rim design, would 16.5" tires such as humvee tires be safe to run?
    Thanks,
    Mikel

I would not. The tires even have "Do not use on 16 inch Rim" branded into the side of them.
Remember if you didn't build it you can't call it yours.

the bead of the tire (16 vs 16,5) is shaped different, as is the rim bead. take a good look at the profile of each and you will see why it won't work.......al

I would have tried it if I had the tires already. I tried mounting 11X16 XL tires on 16.5 inch rims. Months later the tire exploded violently, the bead and sidewall tore up
    Feast or famine,
