nos pinch welt for soft top frame?
    Post by 503m715 on May 24, 2006, 7:44pm

My upper door frames have a pinch type with weather strip attached to it. I bought some nos pieces from vpw, but all I ended up with is the pinch welt. Did I order the wrong stuff, or are there different types.

What I thought I had ordered, was the gasket that attaches to the soft top frame that creates a seal between door glass frames and soft top frame. I ended up with plain old pinch welt. The hard top I got from Binford has the same type of gasket that my soft top frames had, it is a pinch welt/weather strip combo. That is what I am after. I ordered the stuff from vpw. It was under the weatherstrip group in the parts flyer. The have door weatherstrip, fixed window weather strip, pinch welt, window vert channel, listed. Out of the 4 the pinch welt seemed closest to description of what I was after. Any help would be great, thanks.

Thanks, that is what I thought I had ordered. I received just a length of standard common pinch welt. Like you would put over the edge of sheet metal.

Eh, you can always use that on the back of the cab tub. I think JC Whipme has some of the correct weatherstrip like Jon has pictured. It may not be the same exact size, but it is that configuration. It takes some work, but if you can navigate their website, there is a lot of that sort of stuff to be found there.
