Thread: Storage Compartment Hardware

    Default Storage Compartment Hardware

Has anyone found a good solution or replacement for the screws that hold the hooks (latches) to the storage compartment doors? The bolts have a shoulder on them to allow the hooks to be able to rotate for latching/unlatching.

One of my screws was too bad to reuse.

I simply machined out a small tube to fit over a new screw to mimic the shoulder.

Yeah, like maybe fuel or brake line tubing? I have used 5/16 steel fuel tubing to make carburetor/cruise control linkage before...

Those are good suggestions. Thank you both for your replies. For now I've got a machine screw with a nut and a locknut to allow everything to be fairly snug, but not loosen to the point of falling apart. When I get some other stuff taken care of I'd look into implementing a more permanent fix.

    Default storage compartment hook

Does anyone have a single storage compartment hook they would be willing to sell or anyone have a suggestion for a substitute?
    Thanks for any help.

    I hope you find one.

I don't have one but if you are unsuccessful in finding one, you may want to just trace the one you have on a piece of flat metal stock and just cut it out carefully. Yes, it will take some time but you may be able to do that.

Surely there has to be someone with one to spare?

I never payed much attention Don, are they tack welded on, or are they attached by nut and bolt? I agree with you though, their has to be one out there somewhere.

Just like a flat, thick, sheetmetal screen door hook kinda thing. I believe it attaches with a nut and bolt. The bolt may have a shoulder on it but that could be duplicated by a piece of steel tubing, like a brake line or fuel line.

    Post a wanted ad.
    Surely someone has an extra.

That said, they are pretty crude and could be hand cut from a tracing.
