    Default Part Numbers for drums??

I have a 67 715, and I was wondering if anyone out there has any part numbers for the brake drums front and rear? Mine could probably be turned, but I thiknk I just want some new ones. I havent done the search by measurements yet so I just thought I'd ask first. I work at a parts store and thought someone out there may have found something from the civilian worls whihc might fit a stock setup. What has to be indexed with relation to the hubs and drums?

You should consider writing an add in the Wanted section. You won't find these except from other M715 owners or parts dealers. I cannot think of anyone that has found a civilian brake drum that works on these axles. Or swap out the axles. Good luck!!- gonz

No civvy drums work. I dont know of a source for NOS drums...if there is one, they will be expensive...

Like gonz said, from another truck is the source...someone who is already swapping axles.

On the indexing, the hub (the thing with the studs to mount the tire), and the drum need to be checked for runout as a unit in all 3 of the screw positions...the drum to hub mounting screws. The position with the least runout is your boy...mark the combo so if/when you remove a drum, it goes back on as it came off...

If you have the drums turned, take he hub with you and have the shop chuck the drum and hub up in the lathe and turn thm as a unit...you will get a good drum from that.

They still have a few. About $125 ea. I don't know if they are NOS or good used, but they're available.

For staters the m715 uses a unique bolt pattern
M-715's as big as FSJ's come

It's the same six lug bolt pattern on the civvy D70 DRW.

Looking at respective manuals/schematics... the dually D70 has drums that mount on the backside of the hub with the studs going through the hub flange complicating dissembly for brake repairs. On the M715 the drum mounts over the hub and the studs go through the hub flange and then the brake drums.

On the M715 it would have been designed this way to be able to remove the brake drums separately from the hub/axle shaft for quick tear down. On the civvy DRW you had to take it all apart to get the drum off.

The D70 M715 spindles have the almost exactly the same dimensions (from the measurements I have) as the DRW D70 so you could potentially upgrade to the M715 hub/drum assembly.

    M715 D70 Stub/spindle Measurements:
Everything looks the same as the Gladiator D70 except two dimensions:

    - The diameter of the inner bearing diameter surface is 2.250" (the Gladiator D70 is 2.22).

    - The diameter of the seal surface is 2.750" (the Gladiator D70 is 2.68).
