    Default Front springs

    So this is happening ...

The 7.3 is a heavy pig and these springs are whipped.

Are there any new springs still available?
If not is there a aftermarket source?

    Thanks

Vintage Power Wagons had some nos springs...try them for a set...

You find those, take them to a spring shop and have a leaf or 2 added in.

(did I just say that....everyone is always trying to take leaves out to improve the ride...)

It looks like the spring would benefit from a couple shorter leaves to distribute the point load from the spring pad on the axle.

There are seven leaves in an original stack!

I just went into the garage and looked at mine. I got NOS springs from AB Linn a few years ago. But I think he doesn't have any now.

Just looking at that picture, it appeared that the spring stack was smaller. I guess you win some... you loose some. My original springs were OK but the bushings were really shot. It was cheaper and easier to get new springs from AB Linn at the time. Back springs have lubrication bearings (one of which I still need to free up!!! I keep forgetting...)

    Yep

I removed a couple leaves when it had the big block in it. Did it to make it ride a bit better and also lower it a tad. It was noticeably taller in the front after the spring over even after the rear shackle and pin flip.

The 7.3 diesel is significantly more massive chuck of iron.
I have about 300lbs of winch and bumper on it now so it will just get worse.

The bushings are almost shot and figure might as well do the whole setup.

I'll give vintage power wagon a call and see if they have anything.

    Thanks

Paul, hope you get it sorted out. "Unfortunately" those springs were cheap a few years ago and eventually, AB Linn got tired of trying to sell them and put them in the bin is my understanding. They are a hoss to schlep around...

I think maybe AB still has a few. When I was there last he had hundreds but scrapped all but a few. Those few may be gone by now also.
