    Default canvas tarps

Does anyone know where I can get a oil treated canvas tarp or material by the foot.I am wanting to make a bikini top to go over the cage in my M1009.I know TSC carries them but I am wanting something a little heavier and in OD green. If anyone has a untorn 10X10 section I might be interested in that. When I was a kid we had some we covered tobacco with, but they are long gone.

Farm supply stores usually have a variety of canvas tarps that would probably serve your purpose. They're more or less waterproof to start with (like my folk's old tent when I was growing up--just don't touch the inside of the canvas when it was wet or it would spring a leak!)

If you want to make it absolutely waterproof, just melt a pound of paraffin wax in a double-boiler and mix it in with 1/2 gallon of gasoline. (Please do this carefully and out of doors!) Then lightly wad up your canvas and soak it in the gas/wax mixture, moving it around a bit to make sure it gets evenly soaked. Remove it and hang it up somewhere to air out and dry. Give it a couple weeks and it will be completely rid of the gas smell and be 100% waterproof.

I know this place has od canvas on rolls in back that they sell by the foot. It's not listed on thier website, but you might be better off just calling them. http://www.generaljims.com/
