    Default Hood number

While sanding the hood getting ready to paint I found what I believe are the original markings. Under the US Army there is what I believe is 03621868. It's really hard to make it out and it took sanding both sides to come up with that.
Does this sound correct? If so it's going back in the truck after we paint it today.

If your truck is 1968 then yes. The last digits are the year.

I'm thinking that it might be 03G21868. Looking at the sticky it shows only three digits then a letter. Unlike earlier vehicles that had 4 then the letter. Just trying to get a definitive answer before I stencil the wrong number in her

Here is a picture of my truck, also a 1968 truck, 03J27168, taken in July 1970. I suspect that you have the right number. Does the data plate show a 1968 truck?

It was built in 68. I'm going with the G because of what the sticky says.
Thanks. Was a member years ago when I first got her. Then life took over and she sat for 18 years in the back of the garage. Moved her 4 times but never could part with her. Got a bug up my ass(girlfriend) and the last 3 months have been a ton of work.
She has to be done for a show June 1st. Talk about deadlines

Even if you get the number off by a digit or whatever, you will still have an authentic looking truck. I will put my Germany number on the truck. Don't care that it is inaccurate.

03 is the weight classification for a 1-1/4 ton truck. The G is pretty common as the 3rd digit. The last 5 numbers are assigned to the truck. some guys use the truck serial number.

Nice looking truck. Gotta work fast to make the June 1st deadline.
