    I agree. Change the alternator. These trucks idle at 650-700 rpm which should be plenty fast enough get the alternator charging.

    The wiring involved puts me off a little (diode procurement now that Radio Shack has ceased to exist, for example), as does fabrication of a mounting bracket (assuming the 12S isn't a bolt-up) because all my fab capability is in WY.

    I didn't put a diode on mine. That pic I posted was the first I ran across so I posted it. But I looked at a bazzilion when I was wiring my truck. Some had diodes, some just fusible links, some just a Gen light... and many different combos of those.
    I put a big inline fuse on the 10ga going to the batts and ran the #1 to a Gen light and then volt meter... forget where I ran it after that... been a while.

    I can measure the dimensions/mounting bolt holes on mine. But those 2 bolt alts should interchange pretty easy.
