Default Fuel pump Q? and hopefully some A's

ok... i drained the tank, blew out the fuel lines, changed the fuel filter, turned the engine over with the fuel line off the pump and it gushes good.
even put a new rebuild kit in the one barrel holley.
but when you mash the gas on the road it just takes a crap and dies, you can coax it a bit by pullin the choke out but i still dies... i put a clear plastic filter on it just to see whats goin on and its just a trickle comin out, not even enuff to fill the filter. do these fuel pumps die a slow death and wont build pressure?

Did you set the float level to spec when you rebuilt the carb?

To measure the fuel flow I put the line into a empty water bottle and crank for 5 seconds. You might have blockage at the tank. Try blowing out the line from the the fuel pump to the tank. Worked for me a couple of times.

Yep, check the flow rate...you could have a leaking diaphragm in the pump which can be a kind of slow death thing...
