Yes i had high hopes for my e-bay purchase.
    It looked good.
It started fine a couple of times then the slop in the mounting holes allowed start to back out and grind teeth.
    I tried different mounting bolts
I split some steel tubing in an attempt to shim starter forward.
That worked for a while but eventually shifted.
I am loosing to much of my flywheels teeth to try any more rigging.
I am going to do what I should have from the start.
    BUY AMERICAN!
Money is kinda tight right now so I will buy a remanufacted starter.
The remanufactured 4.0 head I just bought for my cherokee had a big bright tag saying Mexico.
I will try to buy American.

Good call on buying american. If only we could get all americans to start buying american products again, maybe we could slowly pull ourselves out of this economic slump. Haha good luck to ya

Last night I gutted the interior of my truck so I can start fixing the floor pans. I got the grinder out and started going to town on my one trouble spot under the brake pedal and then I quickly realized that my mig is out of wire.....ah guess ill have to fix the floors another day

Holy crap batman!!! I hope mine isn't that bad. Once I realized I was out of wire in the welder I stoped grinding and cutting. Hopefully mine isn't that......um......cancerous. haha. Luckily my truck spent most of its life in the south (alabama) so it hasn't been exposed to the northeast winters and salt. I'm still new at welding so maybe this will give me some practice. I heard practice makes perfect but sometimes practice just makes me frustrated haha

I have had al little welding experience before this.
This project has been an advanced course.
I found a small co2 adapter system that allows me to use readily available paintball co2 and nail gun CO2 bottles.
As you have seen you always runout as soon as you get started.
Walmart and Lowes are open 7 days a week.
Straight CO2 isn't as good as Co2/Argon but better than flux wire.
    I made one big mistake.
I cut too much floor out without bracing cab.
The Cab shifted and now the door doesn't line up well at all.
I will have to persuade the cab to return to original shape.
I have not even began to address battery box area!
I'll have to look for more pictures.
    Those were not the worst.
At one time I had a hole big enough for my hound dog to fall out and he is a big old boy!

I got some parts in yesterday for the motor, A full bearing set (not) for the crank. It had the mains and rods, five of the same rod bearings and only one of the oppisite hand,2,4,6. 010 under. Contacted seller and he has yet to respond.Just sent a second message, I don't want to bad mouth him until I give him a fair chance to respond. I do however have the other bearings from an other purchase so I have a full set. Half are Fereral Mogel and the other half is Clevlight, which is made by federal, just a harder matterial. Another grand in parts and machining and I should be able to put it together.

    yep
I looked into rebuilding my 1967's stock engine.
I could have easily bought a crate small block chevy for the price of parts, not to mention machine work.
Needless to say I took a running small block out of my very rusty 68 and stuck it into my 67.
I am still managing to spend a small fortune.
I am glad that there are people with the will power, skill and finances to preserve the m715s in original condition.
