Sorry, but that's a step backwards. That giant hook on the civvy Jeeps is a magnet for your HEAD. Don't mess with perfection. Use that empty space and put some lights there for those nighttime breakdowns.

I used the latch parts from a dodge d50 my buddy was junking get the parts from the core support and hood cut and weld to fit. did away with the cable and made a thumb latch like the olod fords had.now no hood shake at speeds above scary and the hood quit cracking in the center.
I must have the only hood that isn't cracked or repaired...... Mine still has the original style latches on the outside.
It does have the piece on the hood that sits over the pin on the core support, but it has no latching mechanism. Is that the way they came originally?
Charlie, can you share pictures of that? I'm trying to find a way to use the civvy parts without a cable.
