Hi, If I use the Carter M3561 . I do not see the vacuum top portion on this pump. The stock fuel pump has a top section which runs vacuum. If I find a fuel pump with out vacuum, will this create a problem? I know portion of vacuum is for windshield wipers but, I see a line go back to distributor and into intake. If there are any ports which can be blanked off and still function engine, I am interested to.
Thank you for any information anyone has. Note: there is also a 24v pump out there on eBay.

The line to the distributor provides ventilation for getting the ozone in there vented. It builds up because the points arc and create it. It eats the cap up and needs to be vented...not sure of another way to do it but it is something to figure out.

Otherwise it won't hurt, besides the wipers, not to have it.

Like Brute said it vents the distributor, it will work fine as long as you don't cap that vent line off. Just leave the line open and it will vent on it's own.

I just rebuilt my Carter 4390 stock 2-stage fuel pump on my M725. Question: How much travel should I be getting when manually moving the lever? How difficult should it be to move the lever? It seems to be a very short throw. Other than putting it on the vehicle I don't know how to check for proper working.
