Thread: Maintenance truck vise

  1. #1

    Exclamation Maintenance truck vise

I need to get a vise for the tailgate of my 6217 maintenance truck.

Does anyone know what vise came on these trucks or have pictures that show the vise on the maintenance trucks.

Does the manual give the size or weight of the vise?

yes it does. My vise and spare are are reversed though. Also, my roof doesn't fold back.

The vise kind of looks like a Wilton vise.

We have 1 Wilton in my building. I went through all the classes today looking. It is big and only has 2 mount bolts. The welding class has it.

My Snap-On only says that and no other name.

That's a swivel base Wilton. I'll try to look up the number this weekend. I believe that one has the pipe jaws too. They're not cheap, but they are one of the best for outdoor use.

That's what joe is asking. Do any of the manuals include any specs for the vise?

Don, any help would be appreciated.

I did measure the holes in the tailgate.

    left 7 1/8"
    right 5 3/4"
    6" between left and right.

Well if any manual has the specs I would think the -34P would. But then again it might just have vise NSN......etc and not give make and model jaw size etc.

Sorry...I misunderstood your reply about the pic being helpful as a yes to Joe about a manual with details.

I looked through all the manuals before I posted that pic...there is not a word anywhere I could find. That pic is from a magazine or book that I scanned for the history page here....it isnt even from a manual.

I think since the 6217, being an adaptation after the factory production of an M724 cab and chassis, was produced by an outside 3rd party, it isnt covered in the manuals that list all the Kaiser Jeep stuff.

So who made the 6217 stuff? That contractor would be the place to look.

Maybe the fact that the 6217 is such a mod explains the lack of any alpha character in the name.....
