    Default Back spacing question

Does anyone know what the backspacing is for the stock wheels?
    Thanks, Ricky

I used to say 5.5 inches, as it was posted by someone else at that, until Rip68 posted this a while back:

Are you sure certain about that offset Jon? Only cause I slid under my truck and eyeballed it halfazzed and saw 6". Then I came back in and logged back on and saw your 5-1/2" and said "wait a minute". Then went back outside unbolted my spare tire from underneath, cut a peice of 1x1 at 18-5/8" to use as a straight edge from lip to lip on the rim edge and measured down the center hole and got 6-3/4" each time I measured.

According to Marsh Racing's website that is how they measure the "backspace" or "offset".

I got 6.5" when I got home today and was able to measure using the above mentioned technique. I tried to take off a little for the split ring though.

I am ordering a set of one piece rims from Marsh and I asked for 6.5" but the guy who makes them was out by the time I called and they were not sure they could do that much. Anyone have any idea of a minimum of back spacing for appearance and fit?

I have one piece rims that are 16x12 and have 6" back spacing. They look real nice.

I was going to go with the 6 - 3/4" backspacing because that's what I got using Marsh Racings technique. But when I mentioned 6-3/4" to the guy who builds them, he asked for another measurement involving my brakes. At this point he has my bead width, offset & bolt pattern measurements. I've decided to go with the 5-1/2" offset as it causes less concern and confusement with Marsh. But when I do have Marsh make the rims first I'm going to have the center plates cut off of my stock rims and send them out to Marsh to have them used on the new rims. Because this will make for stronger rims as noted by Bob Cowen.

How much for the Marsh wheels? I have a set of rims set aside to do the same with, cut out centers and get new wheels made. Let me know, Thanks

It's been a few months since I spoke with Marsh. But if I recall right it was rediculously low - $99 each & $137 each (delivered).

a tubeless rim has a smaller i.d than the stock rim and its impossible to get the same or more backspacing on a tubeless rim. remember this truck has 13" brakes .........

Bob, I thought that your business provides custom 16" one-piece wheels using the cut-out centers. Are they not tubeless wheels or is your backspacing different from stock?

when you make a custom wheel for the m715 you better have a hub & drum to take measurements from. yes i make wheels in 16" & 16.5 dia,s. theres more to it than you think.you can get a little more back spacing with a steel plate for a center but they wont balance. and if the center is less than 1/2" it will flex and crack. just my sperience.
