Thread: Tire size for stock suspension?

Default Tire size for stock suspension?

    Hi all,

I'm a brand new M715 owner from Australia, just bought a truck in the states and having it shipped to me, planning to have new tires fitted before going onto the ship though. What size muddies can I fit on the truck with stock suspension without rubbing? Stock wheels and don't want to stick too far outside the fenders, I'm thinking 38x12.5? It's running a SBC so will turn a decent size tire

    All advice appreciated!

I have had 38x12.50 swampers and the 38 michelins both on stock suspension with no issues. The swampers were on an offset 15" wheel though....There might be a slight rub on the frame at full turn at that size if that is an issue for you...
    Is that real money?

38x12.5's will clear just fine with no rubbing. The bolt pattern on the wheels is kind of a rare pattern and just a few companies make wheels for the M715 because of it. Trail Worthy Fab can put new centers in a military Hmmwv wheel so you can get away from the tubed type tires and wheels. They run $200 bucks per wheel and are double bead locked from the inside.

With stock rims on a stock truck, that is right at the biggest you can go.

    Pics when you get them!!

I want to stay with the stock wheel for the moment, having it as stock looking as possible will make it far easier to get it into Australia.

Doing some online shopping, not as many options in 38" as I though there would be for a 16" wheel. I'm looking at swamper TrXus M/T radials in 37x12.5r16, does anyone know if these can be run with a tube?

Yes they can but you MUST use a radial tube...the stock tires use a tube for bias ply and there is a big difference!

I run a 36x12.5-16 Swamper Radial on my truck with stock rims and they fit and work well. They are fairly close to the stock size and that particular Swamper only has a tread pattern width of 9" which is the same as the stock NDT.

I run 38x12.5x16 Super Swampers on stock wheels with 9.00-16 tubes, no rubbing

I see Interco make the swamper radial in a 38.5x14.5-16, too wide for the standard rim maybe?
