    Default Decode 1967 230 Tornado Engine Code Number

    Hi everyone! Newbie here. Looked at a 1967 M715 and can't see enough of the engine code number to determine what the number is. I have searched several different ways on the forum and am unable to find anything that will help me. Is there a way to decode the engine code number? Thanks in advance.

    I really have no memory of anyone even asking if there was an engine number. Much less how to figure out what it means.

    You trying to determine if you have a matching numbers vehicle or narrow down the build date?
    Remember if you didn't build it you can't call it yours.

    6.2 powered M715, 5 M1009's, M416, 2 M101's, 2 M105's, 3 M35's, M1007 6.5 turbo Suburban project called Cowdog.

    Thanks for the reply Barrman. I am trying to record the engine code number. I believe the engine to be original, however because it has an engine number, I'm just trying to document it. The number as I can see it from my photos is: 30 M2 06 1275. The first few letter/numbers are hard to read.

    After doing research via my search engine, I may have more information: The engine code number may be 230-M2-06-1275. The "10" manual just shows a picture of the location of the number, not how it decodes.

    230= 230 ci?
    M2= unknown
    06-12= date?
    75= 7.5 compression ratio?

    Does this look close?

    I do remember the 75 is the compression ratio...7.5 in our case and 8.5 optional on the civvy version...I think I found the decoder in an old civvy manual...hope I still have it...
