Typically I change my oil at 3000 miles and rotate at 6000. I wish Lee and Tom were still here since they ran the XLs for a long time and might have an opinion on this. I'll post it over at SS and see what they say since a lot of them run the larger XLs on single rims on the M35s.

Hmmm, interestingly I may have just proved myself wrong. Here is a PDF file from logsa.gov that has info on the HEMMT tires and states that any XL tire should all be mounted with the tires running in the same direction.
https://www.logsa.army.mil/pub/psiss.../613-18-19.pdf
This means to truly rotate the tires you will have to dismount them. To me, this is unacceptable, so unless I can find some horrible reason why I cannot run them backwards, I will.

Actually after re-reading this it seems more than a little confusing. The three tires the PDF talks about are the Goodyear AT2A, the Michelin XL and XZL. The pertinent quotation is:
Quote:
All three tires have non-directional tread, so it does not matter how they are mounted on the wheels. The tread can point forward or backward, although the tread on any XL tires used should point in the same direction.
So what does this mean? It does not matter how I mount them as long as they are all mounted the same way? That is ridiculous.
