It sounds like you my have the military ignition that someone used the civilian plugs and wires on...it can be done and done well, it can also be done poorly...got a pic??

Here the military distributor with civilian wires .... it's a clean job because i do not notice until i realized that i'm not having the good screwed type plugs.

Definitely the military ignitor...unit with the coil and distributor in one housing...civilian plugs and what might be the mil wires coming out of the ignitor spliced to civvy wires after about an inch or 2.
If you plan to keep this setup for now, use the Autolite #275 or equivalent plug.
They were some motorcraft plugs installed ... i changed them for the Autolite ones but they are not the 275 because any auto parts got thems in stocks ... so a changed them and the truck is running like a new one !!!

the plugs i used are Champion 929 ... the ones used to be on the truck were Motorcraft AL7C ... they didn't look the same ... the 929 were a little longer but they worked fines.
As long as the truck is running fine . that's the most important !!!

were you able to screw in plug wires on the 2344 plugs?
Been a long time since i worked on the oem engine. Mine was mod military/civil so can't answer on the 2344 plugs. Now having 6BTAA engine so plugs are no longer a problem
