Thread: Dana 70 output flange

    Default Dana 70 output flange

Hi guys. Just a question. I have an M715 that I put a Chebby running gear in, 454, th400, np205. The np205 transfer has a 1350 U joint flange for the rear output. I measured the driveshaft length and had Tom Woods make me a new shaft. I made the boneheaded mistake of thinking the Dana 70 had a 1350 flange on the yoke . I'm thinking the best way to fix this is to put a 1350 flange on the stock 70. Does anybody know the spline count of the original 70 rear flange?

Call BJs in WA, they might know. I know when you change to 4.56 years in the stock axles you have to change the pinion yoke on the rear diff. Hopefully you can find a yoke but I wouldn't hold my breath.

Just a follow up. Called Tom Woods Driveshafts and talked to them about my problem. They are sending me (and I didn't even know this was possible) a u joint that has two different size cups.

Yep...conversion joints do like that...you might want to order a spare...if for any reason you have a problem with the installed one way out on a trail somewhere, you are most likely not going to find one available anywhere near you...be better to have a spare in you wheelin parts and tools kit...

That's my recollection too. Smaller than the 1-3/8" 10 spline in the NP200.
