Dont forget to try A B Linn. He can usually beat everyone else on price.

Isnt he just about down to the chair by now?

I did ask him and he does not have any. So far Boyce is the cheapest option for new. Have not followed up with Saxon's gear guy yet. Fingers crossed.

I do have a complete set of extra axles. I wasn't really wanting to part with either of them since I have two trucks and having spare parts around is always good, but for a fellow zoner in the NW I might cave in. Maybe we can work something out. PM me if interested.

wheww. Good news. Saxon's gear guy does have his old gears and will set up the axle for me with gears and new bearings for a reasonable amount.

It's a bit of a trek to get it out and hauled down to him but the price is right.

Gonna try to get the axle pulled this weekend so I can get it down to him next weekend.

Thanks to everyone that offered up their parts/assistance. Love this place.

After about 3 hours, the rear axle is out and on the ground. Now to get it to the gear guy.

I might try to do the 14 bolt backing plate conversion while it's out - if I can find all the parts in a reasonable amount of time.

Hey, if you find a whole axle between here and Salt Lake City, Utah, or Turlock, Kalifornia, I'm not necessarily against leaving the Grand Cherokee at home and taking the truck to drag the thing home on the Binford Express....

Sounds like you've got a better solution at hand though....

While the axle is out, do a quick service on the spring mounting pins. Pull the springs and check the brass bushings, etc. The crud that was packed in mine was kinda unbelievable. No new grease was ever gonna get through that stuff.

I've got a small diameter 14 bolt brake set up, backing plates and drums.
