I decided to keep my T-98. Putting in a Ford 300 6 Cyl. Parts Mike had an adapter to change the stickout on the t-98 to something that would work for a Ford (ford bellhousing and t-98 bolt pattern are almost a perfect match). They were pretty cheap at $199 and about $240 less than advance adapters. Might be worth asking them what they could get a SM465 to SBC if your dead set on that.
The T-98 is the same thing as a Ford T-18 and 1301 which I personally know of a 74 t-18 with over 500,000 miles on it. Just keep em oiled.
