I was just told by the PO that they were water cans...I figured the one with the non screw on top was for water....the other, I wasnt sure...probably as you have said above...I dont have much knowledge on those items.

Both metal cans should have liners painted inside. When the liner is gone, rust shows up quick. I have gotten in the habit of using delinered fuel cans as used oil storage containers until I can dispose of the oil properly. Much easier to carry, pour from (with a spout) and the won’t crack sitting in the sun light.
I also just happened to have done a video about the cans, metal and plastic, fuel and water within the last year. It is also one my channel linked in the signature.

I just sent a text to Al on his old cab. I can't remember what all it needs. He's out camping this weekend, I called him Friday because I was in Wenatchee and was going to stop and see him after my job but he said he was gone camping with his wife. Way better than working. I have a crane on my service truck and can put that cab on a truck going east sometime.
Well, I managed tO get the drum off where the grinding sound was coming from...appears that, besides a wasted wheel cylinder, the problem was that the shoes had been adjusted ALL THE WAY TIGHT! Seriously, I got 1 click in the tightening direction and that was hard and then it wouldnt go more...went the other way, about 30 turns, drum came off easy...looks good inside as far as shoes and drum...took it for a ride in the yard and much better...if only everything were so easy...

Barrman, The can with the screw on lid has definitely petro-chemical residue in it by the smell...the other is whistle clean inside and is coated for water and is marked for water on the outside...screw on lid is a 1951 vintage...other at 1985 USMC. You must be right.
Glenn, keep me informed, very interested!

I've got an old stripped cab as well. I've tried to give it away for years and the wife wants me to get it to the scrap yard and perfect to grab pieces of metal off. See what glenn can do with Al

Finally able to see the zone! Jon that is outstanding. So very cool. I have a brand new solid state turn signal unit I believe I am not going to use. Plus I have an extra new top I sewed up that I can install and see what it needs. It is black and made from twillfast. Thanks to an outstanding member here...ha. I wish I was closer. I love metal work and I see some fun there. Glenn will have a look at the cabs and maybe something will work out there. The best rockers I have found so far are from melnicks in CT. BJ's offroad claims to have accurate rockers but they charge to much. This is great! Glad to see you have a truck again.

Gotta find the time to see if my 3 lever light switch is even in the system anymore….not sure if it even hooked up…but would be good to keep that… lotta wiring issues to check out.
Going to make adapters for the front to mount 4 inch round leds for the front lights…already has the oval leds with grommets on the rear.
This weekend we have a once a year retreat with our church that’s 3 hours away…on Saturday and Sunday…I won’t get home till late Friday or wee hours Saturday…
No wrench time this weekend…
