Default "Machine gun mount behind the seat"

There have been two for sale threads this week with people trying to sell their trucks. Both seem to have a machine gun mount behind the seat.

I just wanted to point out for any new people. The gun mount next to and behind the drivers seat is for a M14/M16. I know some people consider them to be "machine guns." However, to me a machine gun is a belt fed weapon. I don't think a belt fed weapon would fit in the bracket. I have enough trouble getting an AR-15 in there. Now, a Remington 1100 fits perfect.

The M1009 trucks have 2 of the same mounts inside them as well as the M1008 trucks with a single just like the M715.

Wanted to correct any mis understandings out there.

I've seen pictures of M715 with a M2 machine gun mounted in the bed. That's technically behind the seat. Does any member have a M715 with a M2 mounted on it?

I saw that posting too and had the same response, but kept it to myself. I did chuckle a little.

I was wondering what on earth they meant too and then it dawned on me that they meant a "rifle mount" as I've always called them.

Machine guns? Is that like an assault rifle?

Dave, I actually thought of you and your truck when I started writing the first post. I got to writing and forgot to mention the bed mounts. I was not aiming my comments at you.

Yes, the bed is behind the seat.

What is this "machine gun" mount? My '68 only came with sporting rifle mounts.
