I should say though that I believe my old one blew, not due to the pressure but for some other reason...like maybe a short or sending unit problem as I was at idle, the gauge was not pegged...then there was an audible click and the gauge pegged full right for about 2 seconds maybe, then clicked again and dropped to 0 and didnt work again....

I would make sure and do the checks that were recommended above, the stock gauge setup does tend to have grounding issues and erratic display in many trucks....need to rule those issues out to be sure where you are...thus my use of the mechanical gauge to back up what the electrical gauge reads...
