    Thanks

bare metal gets flat black krylon or surface rust. or a combination of both. the body will get nothing except maybe some time trying to align the doors. someday in the distant future, barring the idea that i get another stock truck, this one may get painted dessert tan or strata blue.

got some more work on the nerf bars done.

the top tube was added and the plate between the two

shot some black paint on the finished product

was ready to go home before i got to the passenger side. all that is left is the plate between the two tubes and some paint.

    Looks good.

Don't suppose you have an extra pair of those laying around.

finish these. then wait for some money to get a fuel tank and some wiring figured out. hopefully the chevy truck sells, then i will have a little money to play with. i want to get the fuel tank figured out soon.

Great looking, cool work, as usual ! Since I am no welder or fabricator, is there a reason for not welding the plates all along their run and only welding where the cut-out are? I suspect that structurally it is not much different and also much less work, but as I said earlier, I am no not a fab man or a very skilled welder.

no real need for that much weld. plus all that heat may distort the entire apparatus. the plate doesn't add much for structure, more for looks. it does help the upper tube from bending and give the whole thing some rigidity, but i could jack the truck up before the upper tube and plate where added without bowing the main tube

No real updates since i have been trying to settle into the new job and get used to my new schedule, but i did score a detroit locker for the rear FREE. stopped by the shop tonight on the way home from work and pulled the carrier out of the 14 bolt. should have the detroit tomorrow. probably put it all back in on friday night. planning on having the parts cut for the fuel tank soon.

Nice tube work on the nerf bars. Do you have a picture of them from a distance so we can see how they go with the body lines? (side view of the truck)
