#1 and #2 were the most popular way the army painted M715s with #2 being more so and the one I was refering to.

There is a Technical Bulliten that was written in the 70s to tell you how to paint it, but here is my take on having done a few jeeps and a duce.

I'm going to use #2 for my example.

Since the #1 color on the vehicle is the 34079 forest green I would paint the truck that color. The whole truck as the base color.

Now the manual says to take chalk and using an projector put the pattern on the truck, but chalk is a PITA to clean off before you paint the next color. So I just eyeball the pattern and get is as close as possible.

What I will do is after the truck is now all color 1 I mix up a gun full of color #2 which in the example would be the field drab or brown. Using the pattern I eyeball the shape and basically paint the out-line of the blotch and then fill the middle in. Once I've gotten all of color #2 on I move to color #3 which in this example is the sand. I will then paint all the sand pattern on the truck. Don't worry about over spray as that gives it a real GI look to it and will basically fade off over time with weather and what not.

Lastly I'll put color #4 on which is the black...I generally use a can of flat black krylon or what ever I pick up at the home center. Oh yeah for the sand I get a can of Testors Master Modlers paint from the hobby shop...easy to use and matches great.

It is not hard to do, just time consuming and you need a bit of an artistic eye if you freehand paint like I do.

Let the paint dry between colors too.
