Once I tear it down, I'll post what I find. I also have a military rear seal set comming so we will see whats in the set. Looking at the manuals I believe it was once a single piece and later it was modified to 3 pieces.

Below are pictures of a NOS military rear seal set and a set I got at the auto parts store for the civilian 230. The crank shaft seals are identical. Absolutely no differences. The half moon pan seal is only different as the military one is 1 piece with the filler block parts attached. The civilian one is three pieces but dimensionally close to the same. The half moon is exactly the same but the filler block pieces are just a few thousands narrower (horizontally as installed) but would fit just fine. As I understand it from a jeep mechanic, they went to a three piece pan seal/filler block seal so the half moon piece would fit front or rear. Another guy told me they didn't always need to replace the half moon part, just the filler block pieces. Who knows? I sure don't but one thing looks clear; the civvy set should work just fine and is 1/4 the cost of the NOS military set.

The civvy set is in two parts. The crank case seal with the 2 filler block pieces is BESTgasket 3497 S. The half moons with the rest of the oil pan gaskets is BESTgasket 25034. Got them online from bestgasket.com NAPA rear main seal kit is FPG BS40612 or FPG BS13349. Not sure what is in the NAPA kit but I know they have them.
