    Default Oil filled tie rod?

Have resumed work on my '68. Getting the power steering set up. Unscrewed the tie rod end at the steering box and gray oily liquid ran out ???? Is this normal? It did not smell like gear oil from the steering box.

Sounds like it might have been water. Someone might have taken your truck for a swim before you got it. The water picked up the grease from the tie rod ends or from an oil leak that happen to drip on the rod. But no they are not oil filled.
