Thread: BBC deuce trans swap (was radiators and more)

Default BBC deuce trans swap (was radiators and more)

I am getting ready to put my motor in. Tim, you got a part# for that summit radiator? Also, I think I need a resistor to put inline for my 12v coil. I plan on running my starter @24v. Is the coil the only thing I am forgetting? What value resistor do I need? Thanks gang.

So I found SUM-380328. I didn't realize it doesn't have a drain valve. Anyone got a standard type radiator that isn't big bucks? I saw

but I don't know if I want to shell out that much fot it. Yeah, I'm cheap. What else you got that works?

Hop onto e-bay and plug in "CJ to V8 conversion radiator" You'll come up with a bunch of options in both copper and aluminum. They are a direct bolt-in and work very well. My Aluminum one was $365.00 shipped to my door and was here in 4 days.

After searching all the catalogs, the correct Chevele radiator to put in the M715 for a stock replacement radiator that fits in the stock opening without moving the radiator support on the passenger side, you can use:

    Modine #289
    Specs:
    Original applications: GM
    Core size: 16.125 X 25 X 2---3 core
    Inlet header size: 2.5 X 25.25
    Outlet header size: 2.5 X 25.25
Inlet connector size: 1.5 left side, drivers side.
Outlet connector size: 1.75 right size, passenger side
    Type of mount: Double flange
    Oil cooler: 12" (Transmission fluid)

    Original Applications:
    All Chevy:
3.8 liter/230 CID 6 cyl: Bel Air, Biscayne, Impala 1964-65
3.9 liter/235 CID 6 cyl: Bel Air, Biscayne, Impala 1963
4.1 liter/250 CID 6 cyl: Bel Air, Biscayne, Impala 1966-68
4.7 liter/283 CID 8 cyl: Bel Air, Biscayne, Caprice, Chevelle, Impala 1966-67
5.0 liter/307 CID 8 cyl: Bel Air, Biscayne, Impala 1968
5.4 liter/327 CID 8 cyl: Bel Air, Biscayne, Caprice, Chevelle, Impala 1966-68
    6.6 liter/396 CID 8 cyl: Chevelle 1966-1967

Thanks Jon! I am getting close to test fitting, but need to figure a way to adapt the deuce trans output to the 205. Tim suggested a plate adapter that bolts up to the trans and having a flange for the correct Ujoint bolt to that. I will have to see what I come up with and let everyone know. Hey Tim, you get any further on getting a 200 flange to mount up?!

I have a 68 M715, are you saying that the Modine #289 will fit without having to modify the mounting brackets?

YES!! Thats the beauty of it. It will fit the stock opening as is and has the hose locations in the right places!
