Thread: anyone put a mopar 440 in their M715?

Default anyone put a mopar 440 in their M715?

I once came across a thread or sticky that had a list of what swaps had all been done. I can't find it now . I will (in the long run) be be doing a motor/tranny/t-fer case swap. I have access to a 440 automatic with a 205.

Anyone done this swap or parts of it? If it is going to be an insurmountable task, I am not locked into it so I would consider other options. I am mostly concerned about the size of the motor.

    Thanks,
    Jeff

I don't see where a 440 should be any harder than anything else. You will have to fab up your engine mounts anyway, so as long as you can physically squeeze something in your engine compartment it will fit.

I am in the process of installing a BB Chevy and it is probably about the same dimensions as the BB Mopar.......

Wow! Wouldn'ta thunk it! Even so, there's plenty of room still with the BB Chevy in the frame on either side, so the width shouldn't hurt a thing. A little extra radiator clearance wouldn't be a bad thing though!

Any other 440 715s surface? I built one and sold it on Ebay ~2001 or so. Had a 440/727(Short tailshaft) stock transfer case, axles detroit in the rear. The front fenders were cut even with the body line under the headlights all the way into the frame, the front had a wich mount welded into the frame, with the front valence trimmed to clear the Ramsey. 38 X 11 Boggers, and a Custom dash with Automete gueges and a row of toggle switches W circuit breakers in a panel where the stock gauges went. And when I sold it it had a ORD 303/205 doubler in the bed, ready for install. I believe it went to W Virginia.
