Thread: removing the wipers?

    Default removing the wipers?

Hello, this may sound like a stipid question, but my driver's side wiper stopped working and i am wandering how to get it off. My problem is getting the splined part of the shaft through the seal. Does the spline come off or do i have to get a new seal as well?

    thanks,
    Brian

the manual doesnt say id guess that when the seals were new they were soft enough that w some lube you could get the spline end through now that they are hard an brittle even w lube they may want to tear or crumble although maybe you can get the seal to come out w/ the motor shaft?

The seals are just regular gromets. They should pop off with the wiper if they are hard and brittle. Soft and pliable and they will stay on the windshield frame.

    Try some Vasoline.

Yup. Regular grommets. Measure it when you pull the wiper off as I don't remember off hand what the size was. But even with a new one, there'll still likely be some leaking. I think the Vasoline idea might be the trick to take care of that though.
